THE HISTORY- ALMOST 30 YEARS
The Holunder Hof has been founded in October 1982 as a small antique shop with workshop. Today, Holunder Hof stands for premium antiques, wooden design objects and a workshop for fine furniture restoration and individual furniture making. The patch of Holunder Hof is reaching far beyond the Rhein-Main area.
The offering of carefully restored furniture as well as presentations of the restoration work is shown regularly on important trade shows and exhibitions e.g. Art & Antique in Wiesbaden in January.
During regular events in May and September the Holunder Hof opens its workshop doors and visitors can observe the craftsmen and women at work. There are small presentations and lectures following an annually changing general theme.
In November 2008, we opened another showroom in Hauptstr. 28 in Kelkheim – the “Antik-Ausstellung”. Every saturday you are welcome to visit us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come and see our furnitures from baroque to art nouveau; tables, cabinets, davenports, commodes, chairs …
Seven people belong to the team of Holunder Hof at the moment. Within the workshop there are one foreman, two assistants, three apprentices and one trainee. Already eighteen women were successfully qualified as assistant.
In December 2000 Holunder Hof received the award “women-friendliest company” from the state of Hesse. In particular because of the special engagement in the qualification since the apprenticeship places were primarily awarded to young women. Further reasons for the award were the implementation of flexible work schedules, flexibility with regards to pregnancy and the re-integration thereafter.
